Railroad Club celebrates National Model Railroad Month

CROSSVILLE — The Crossville Model Railroad Club (CMRC) will be celebrating National Model Railroad Month this Saturday, Nov. 2, in its home at the Crossville Outlet Mall. Included in the celebration will be a live radio broadcast by WOW Country 102.5 and a drawing to give away a complete model railroad set. The radio broadcast will be from 10 a.m. until noon, and the drawing will be at the end of the day at about 5 p.m.

National Model Railroad Month is a project of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) and is a way to educate the public as to the fun of model railroad and results in events sponsored by model railroaders around the country.

CMRC is inviting all those interested in model railroads to visit the display and find out more about the club and the advantages of membership. It is not necessary to have any experience in model railroads as there are plenty of men and women in the club who are happy to educate a novice. It is also not necessary to own trains as the club has plenty of its own rolling stock for members to use. There are G (garden railroad), O (Lionel), HO and N scale operating layouts. So, whatever scale interests you, there is something to work with.

The CMRC “Wonderful World of Model Trains” is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. next to Subway in the mall. Admission is free.

For more information check out the club’s website at, email or call 742-0151.
