Nov. 22 was the 127 Senior Center's day to celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving. All gathered together to play billiards, dominos and bingo. The bingo numbers were called by Arlene Simmnons, and the gifts were provided by Dr. M. Stewart Galloway, ophthalmologist.
Mary Bohrman, vice president, opened the general meeting at 10:30 a.m., with Leroy Hinkson saying the opening prayer and Bob Jones leading the Pledge of Allegiance. A special thanks went to the Quality Health Care staff for checking the members' blood pressure. Fred Zoeller reminded everyone who is going to the Cumberland County Playhouse on Nov. 26 to be at the Playhouse no later than 2 p.m.
Sue Goforth advised the members that Beverly Price passed away to be with the Lord. Jan Neitzke was absent, so no reports on the upcoming trips, except that on Dec. 4 to see the Rockettes. All who are going need to be at the center at 3 p.m. Also, the Senior Center will be closed on Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Christmas dinner will be Friday, Dec. 13. Everyone needs to sign up and pay $5. The Beef and Barrel will cater this meal. Lucy Elmore advised the members who are interested in helping decorate the Christmas tree at the First National Bank to be there at 9 p.m.
Sunshine Lady Nancy Fincher let all the members know who were on the sick list and to keep them in their prayers and to not forget the brave men and women in the military who need everyone's full support.
The entertainment was provided by Bob Jones, with renditions of several gospel, '50s and some Frank Sinatra and Perry Como tunes. He also had audience participation, even one that surprised him. Everyone had a great time. Thanks, Bob.
After the dinner prayer, a delicious traditional Thanksgiving dinner was served. Thanks goes to Anna, Rachel, Sally, Gladys, Fay and Fred for preparing this delicious meal. Until next time have a blessed Thanksgiving Day and a wonderful week.
