Adult classes available for the holiday season

CROSSVILLE — Adults wanting to take a break from the holiday rush are invited to sit down and take a drawing class with Ralph Hofknecht at the Shanks Center for the Arts. Designed especially for beginning adults, Hofknecht has arranged a Christmas still life and will instruct in the technique of using colorful pastels.

The series of two classes is scheduled for Saturdays, Dec. 14 and 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary to make certain materials are available. The fee is $15 per class, with a one-time $10 materials fee.

Hofknecht lives in Cumberland County and has been teaching art for many years. He paints and sculpts a wide range of subjects. Students feel comfortable with Hofknecht’s relaxed-yet-thorough style of instruction.

Register by calling the Shanks Center at 787-1936 or at the location 140 North Main St. (across from the Depot), Crossville, during regular business hours Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
