Around the Town: Which celebrity wedding crasher would you prefer?

CROSSVILLE — You are getting married and someone famous crashes your wedding. Who would you want it to be? According to this week’s People Magazine, at least five couples were the “victims” of wedding crashers. The five famous crashers were actor John Travolta; former President Bill Clinton; Queen Elizabeth II, who greeted newlyweds at the town hall in Manchester, England; basketball great Lebron James, who crashed a wedding in Miami; and late night talk show host Conan O’Brien, who surfaced at a wedding in Atlanta. All five celebs posed for pictures with the newlyweds.

I asked a few people which celebrity they would most like to meet or have crash their wedding. Their responses ranged from actors to ball players to evangelists.

1. Tanner — Chris Bosh

2. Meg L. — Adam Levine

3. Hannah — Johnny Depp

4. Meg S. — Channing Tatum

5. Ricky — Elvis

6. Lynn — Blake Shelton

7. Tom — Clint Eastwood

8. Shane — Will Smith

9. Lorna — Cody Simpson

10.  Rachel — Josh Hutcherson

11.  Jake — Michael Jordan

12.  Robert — Daniel Tosh

13.  Nathan — Chris Paul

14.  Debbie — Chuck Norris

15.  Brittni — Chuck Norris

16.  Rayce — Freddie Freeman

Interesting list, don’t you think? I never would have expected Chuck Norris to garner two spots even. Though if I had asked my husband, he would probably say either Chuck Norris or newswoman Amy Robach. As for me? If I could meet a celebrity or celebrities, I would choose either Jennifer Aniston or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Speaking of celebrities, Aniston’s former husband, Brad Pitt, announced recently he thinks he suffers from prosopagnosia or “facial blindness.” This rare condition prevents sufferers from recognizing people’s faces. Ironic, considering he has been linked to several of the prettiest women in Hollywood: Gwyneth Paltrow, Aniston and fiancé Angelina Jolie.

If you want to talk real heroes, then read this: Monday, June 24, Marine Sergeant Christopher Hancock will be returning to Crossville. Sergeant Hancock, son of City Police Officer J.C. Hancock, lost both of his legs to an improvised explosive device during a combat mission in June 2011. His plane is scheduled to land at 4 p.m. at Crossville Municipal Airport, and friends and family want a Welcome Home Celebration for him. Local dignitaries and the community band will be there to assist in the celebration. All locals are invited and encouraged to welcome this real life hero home.

There are only a few more days to register for the Visually Impaired Support Group of Cumberland County Golf Tournament. It will be held at Lake Tansi Golf course Saturday, June 22, and features a shotgun start, scramble foursome, prizes and dinner. Call Joyce Lignar at 788-6955 for more information and registration fees.
