Power of Energy Efficiency Fair coming Oct. 5

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland Healthy Energy Campaign invites the community to a Power of Energy Efficiency Fair from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Art Circle Public Library. The fair, which is free and open to the community, focuses on urging more homeowners to take advantage of VEC’s home energy audit.

“Come and win a door prize along with learning more about how to save energy and money,” said Jack Turner of the Cumberland Healthy Energy Campaign. Turner, along with several others, will describe how the home energy audits worked out well for them.

VEC will come to your home to find out ways it can partner with the homeowner to save energy and reduce power bills. Not only is the audit free, but homeowners can get back up to $500 on implementing the weatherization recommendations made by VEC. You can sign up for a home energy audit at the fair.

Displaying at the Power of Energy Efficiency will be many of the Quality Control Network Contractors, which VEC works with to follow through on its home energy audit recommendations: Action Heating and Cooling, Comfort Zone Insulation, Crossville Heating and Cooling, J&M Insulation and McCulley Siding and Windows. Lowe's and Zuercher Electric will have displays on Energy Star appliances and efficient lighting.

For those wanting to learn more about solar energy, Simple Energy Works and the Cumberland Solar Energy Association will be at hand. SOCM will have a display on how energy efficiency and renewable energy creates jobs within the community.

Gay Stewart, with the Cumberland Home Builders Association, will give an overview of a home energy audit. Louise Gorenflo will discuss how VEC can help everyone get more energy efficiency so they can save even more money and energy.

Door prizes have been donated by all the exhibitors. These include weather radios, cut flower bouquet, wine, baked goods, a Lowe's gift certificate, an energy use meter, restaurant discount and others. You must be present to win when the prizes are drawn.
