The First Thursday reception on Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Shanks Center for the Arts in Crossville is expected to provide a great lineup of talent and activity. Jeff Brandt, photographer, will be present to answer questions about his premier exhibit of photographs taken in national parks in the Southwestern United States. Annette Hansen will be available to discuss her clay sculptures. Author Dorothy Dale will have a book signing of her newly published book.
The "inner galleries" of the Shanks Center will be open with a new exhibit of local and regional fine art and fine craft. The Warehouse Gallery Grids will be exhibiting works by students from Cumberland County High School and Stone Memorial High School. The gift shop will contain some new items.
Refreshments will be provided by the new establishment, Swee Ling Boutique and Tea Shop. In addition, it is customary for First Thursdays to be a great time for mingling with artists, authors and guests.
The Shanks Center is at 140 North Main St., across from the Depot in Crossville. Parking is available behind the Shanks Center at the corner of Taylor and Thurman Avenues. After the First Thursday opening, the regular business hours for fall and winter will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
