On May 3, the members of the 127 South Senior Center had a good time playing bingo, socializing and playing dominos. Numbers were called by Bill Bullard, and the prizes were furnished by Quality Health Care, who checked the members' blood pressures.
Emil Neitzke, president, opened the meeting at 10:35 a.m. with Larry Oslund giving the opening prayer and Fay Oslund leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jan Neitzke gave her report on the following trips for this year. The May trip and the June trip to the UK are sold out. The July 9 day trip to Day Lily Farm near Athens has a few seats available. The Aug. 13 day trip to Jack Daniels Distillery has four seats open.
Also, the second trip to Mackinac Island Sept. 22-28 has six seats available. The October day trip to Dollywood is sold out. The day trip on Nov. 26 to the Cumberland County Playhouse, followed by dinner at Gondola restaurant, has a few openings. The Dec. 11 trip to see the Rockettes is also sold out. Nancy Fincher, the sunshine lady, reported all the members who are sick and asked for prayers for them.
All of the members who have a birthday in May were acknowledged, and Gwen Flynn played the piano while the members sang "Happy Birthday."
Emil announced that the bluegrass band will not play Thursday evening, May 16. He also stated that the center needs more items for the corridor sale and to keep buying coupons at Kroger. Do not forget the fundraiser June 9 at the Palace Theatre.
The terrific entertainment was provided by Johnny Moore, accompanied by Dan Fisk and his spoons. Johnny brought his lovely wife, Susie, and some of his relatives. Everyone enjoyed their music and Johnny's stories.
After the dinner prayer, they enjoyed stuffed pork roast prepared by a wonderful lady and her kitchen help, with side dishes and desserts provided by members.
