The American Cancer Society is seeking companies, faith-based organizations or friends/families who would like to participate in the life-changing Relay for Life event in Cumberland County. The event will be held May 3 at the Cumberland County Community Complex. The American Cancer Society works to eliminate cancer through funds raised before, during and after Relay for Life.
Team participation in the event will consist of raising money and creating teams that will camp out in tents and sleeping bags overnight with the goal of keeping one person on the track at all times. Relay for Life celebrates survivors or anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, remembers loved ones and raises money for the fight against cancer.
As the nation’s largest non-government source of cancer research funds, contributing nearly $130 million annually, they turn what they know about cancer into what they do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
For information about forming a team or about the event, call 1-800-227-2345 or 520-7757 or visit www.relayforlife.org/cumberlandtn.
The American Cancer Society saves lives and creates more birthdays by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. For more information, contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or visit them at cancer.org.
