Seniors heading to Renfro Valley

CROSSVILLE — The 127 South Seniors met Feb. 22 for their regular games, conversation, sweets and coffee, with Wendell Lester calling the bingo numbers and the senior center furnishing the prizes.

Emil Neitzke opened the regular meeting, with Larry Oslund giving the prayer and leading the pledge to the flag.

Jan Neitzke gave her trips report, and the trip to England in June is full. March 9 will be the trip to Renfro Valley, KY, and that trip is also sold out. The Memphis/Tunica trip in April is also sold out. However, there is a waiting list for all of these trips. May 18 will be to the Sutton General Store trip, which will cost $55 (money is due April 12). July's trip will be to the Day Lily Farm, and the cost is $50, which is due June 1. The Aug. 13 trip will be to the Jack Daniel's Distillery, which is $47 and due July 19.

September will bring two trips to Mackinac Island. There are five seats available for the second trip Sept. 22-28. Oct. 8 will be the trip to Dollywood and the cost is $75. The Nov. 26 will be to the Cumberland County Playhouse to see Suite Surrender with lunch at Gondola. The December trip will be to the Grand Ole Opry to see the Rockettes' Christmas show, with more details to follow. lf interested in any of these trips, call Jan at 788-3667.

Emil mentioned bringing in items for the 127 sale in August, and Jan said she has four tables available at

the senior center for the sale at a cost of $45 for the three days.

Bluegrass music is performed every Thursday night  at the senior center, and Kroger coupons are available at the center. Nancy Fincher asked that they remember all those on the prayer list.

Jay David provided the entertainment with his variety of songs. After the table blessing, Anna Cox and the kitchen helpers served chicken and dumplings and sides brought in by members.
