Members of 127 Senior Citizens Center met Nov. 9 for conversation, snacks, bingo and dominos. Wendell Lester was the bingo caller, with the prize furnished by Bob Folgers of State Farm Insurance.
Vice President Lucy Elmore called the business meeting to order. Larry Oslund gave the prayer, followed by Frank Knapp with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. The guests for the day were Jackie Raymond, Guy Morin and Jane Morin.
Jan Neitzke gave her trip report. The final trip for the year will be Dec. 11 to the Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas Show in Pigeon Forge, and the buses will leave the center at 9 a.m. The first trip for 2013 will be to Tunica-Memphis April 15-19, and the cost is $375 and your deposit of $75 is due Nov. 16. There will be a trip to Mackinaw Island Sept. 8-14, 2013. The first bus is full, so Jan has booked a second bus and that trip will be Sept. 22-28, 2013.
The Thanksgiving dinner will be Nov. 16 and will cost $7. The Christmas dinner will be Dec. 11 The sign-up sheet is out so you can sign up and pay your $5 at any time. The center will be closed Nov. 23, the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Nancy Fincher gave the sunshine report and asked everyone to remember Pat Mount, Dot Conklin, T.C. Lewis, Emil Nietzke, Kathleen Zuk, Bill Bullard, Helen Schilling, Jim Brennan, Dotti Bickel, Louise Visage and the military in their prayers.
Members are accepting items for the 127 yard sale for 2013. Bring items to the center or call if you have large items and they will pick up. The next game day will be Nov. 27. Bluegrass will be performed each Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. So come and join the fun. Also, keep buying Kroger coupons as this is one of the moneymakers for the center.
Great entertainment was provided by Roger and Evelyn Carpenter, who performed gospel music. It was a great performance. After the dinner prayer, Elaine Mumme and her staff served a delicious pork dinner.
