CROSSVILLE — The way the world seems to be going, we all need a really good laugh. Laughter makes you feel good! When you laugh that good feeling seems to stay with you. Humor helps you keep a positive, optimistic outlook through difficult situations, disappointments, and loss. It is very healthy for you too! So let’s all laugh out loud together!

The Fair Park Senior Center’s third annual Gong Show will be at the Palace this Friday night starting at 7. It is a benefit for the seniors at the center. Everyone who saw the first one still gets a big smile when they think about it!

This year’s show is being sponsored by your friends at Tri-County Equipment, John Deer and NAPA Auto Parts, which are all under one roof, located beside the post office and owned by Clifford Pugh.

I tell people the Gong Show is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get, or what could happen! The only rules are a clean mouth, and to keep most of your clothes on.

You may know some of the people in this year’s show. Everyone knows the judges, who are returning for their third year: Cumberland County Sheriff Butch Burgess; Peg Broadcasting celebrity from WOW 102.5 Country Ms Ronnie Chase; and Crossville Fire Department Chief Mike Turner. The emcee comic Henry Hunnicut will also be back.

The Unknown Comic for the last two years has been Gordon Stack, from Peg broadcasting, who did a great job! This year it will be someone else. Come and see if you can figure out who it is!

Then there are the beautiful ladies Alexis Houston and Pam Lowry. The great entertainers D.J. & Donna Garrison will be doing comedy. Tom Fincher, Ruth and Wayne Lucas, Carlena Hesters, Terri Utsey and her friend Polly Periwinkle, Carol Skiles, Cody Hedgecloth, Cowboy Bob Johnson, Roseann Lord and a clown played by George Adcock. There will be some folks pretending to do the YMCA song. There are many more people you could know.

The Fair Park Senior Center’s Reader Theater Drama Club will be doing several acts, with a special act from the center, we hope you will enjoy too.

There will be cash prizes, tickets to Dollywood, and the Cumberland County Play house, for those who win and do not get Gong!

Make plans to get out this Friday night, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. to be part of the fun and get a good belly laugh. Bring all your friends and family, the more the merrier!

Tickets are $10 and are on sale at Fair Park Senior Center. If there are any left the night of the show, they will be at the Palace ticket booth. But don’t wait, “A Good Laugh is Priceless” and everybody will want to be there! The Gong Show will make you feel Good!

We have a lot of laughs, every day at the Fair Park Senior Center. It is open 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some extra activities at night, and is across the street from the Cumberland County Fair Grounds, at 1433 Livingston Road in Crossville. You can also visit the Center’s website at http://www.fairparkseniorcenter.org to keep up-to-date on the latest programs and activities that are being offered, as well as on-line versions of the Center’s monthly newsletter “Newsline.”
