Meet Marc Burnett at Fair Park

By Tina Taylor

CROSSVILLE — Marc L. Burnett has served as vice president for student affairs at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville since 1992, working with students, faculty and staff to create and maintain student development, overseeing policies and programs in 12 different divisions. Burnett is also currently pastor at Gainesboro First Baptist Church in Gainesboro. He has been married to wife Tamelyn for 28 years and has two grown children.

Burnett may be a busy man, but his favorite past time is painting and has had his work on display at many art shows. He recently was featured on Tennessee Crossroads. He is an avid racquetball player and a four-year letter winner in basketball at TTU and is a member of the Blount County TTU Sports Hall of Fame. He is also the director of the Tennessee American Legion Boys State Program.

Everyone is welcome to come and meet Burnett as he will be speaking at the Fair Park Senior Center, with his paintings on display, this Friday morning at 10 a.m.

Spanish classes will be starting Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Ramon Winemberg from Venezuela who enjoys teaching Spanish. Please sign up at the center.

Tickets are now on sale at the Fair Park Senior Center for the third annual Gong Show, which is being sponsored by their friends at Tri County Equipment Rental, John Deer and NAPA Auto Parts, located beside the post office. There will be lots of funny acts, and the acts that are not gonged could win some cash and passes to Dollywood and the Cumberland County Playhouse. Plan now to get a good laugh at the Gong Show. Tickets are currently on sale at Fair Park for $10.

Fair Park Senior Center is a great place for all seniors and is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, across the street from the Cumberland County Fairgrounds, 1433 Livingston Rd. in Crossville. You can also visit the center’s website at http://www.fairparkseniorcenter.org to keep up-to-date on the latest programs and activities that are being offered, as well as online versions of the center’s monthly newsletter “Newsline.”
