CROSSVILLE — The City of Crossville Police Department will be presenting another interesting Senior Police Academy, starting this Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. for one day every week for eight weeks. If you enjoy police science and law enforcement, and how the judicial system works, you will enjoy this free class.

Some of the topics that will be covered are tactical response team, firearms, crime scene investigation, K-9 demonstrations and much more. Space is limited to the first 24 seniors who sign up. There are a few seats left. Please call Tina at 484-7416 today. Hood Funeral Home in Crossville sponsors the educational programs at Fair Park.

Everyone is ready for warmer weather, and it does not take much for those bulbs in the ground to start popping up. Everyone loves bright flowers and fresh home-grown veggies, but growing them doesn’t always turn out well for everyone. Learn the secrets to having a green thumb by the members of the Cumberland County Master Gardeners.

Some of the topics they will cover in this free four-week class are container gardening, square foot gardening, lawn weeds and vegetable gardening. Fair Park would like to thank Debbie Ward for helping to arrange these classes for the seniors. These classes will be held every Wednesday in March at 3 p.m. There will be a special field trip to the Plateau Research Center. Call Tina at 484-7416 to get signed up.

Fair Park Senior Center is proud to be sponsoring the public town hall meeting to be held at the Palace Theatre on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m., and the program will start at 5:30 p.m. The mayor and members of the city council will be available to answer questions from the audience. Questions may be related to any on-going or future city projects that you may have questions or concerns about. This is your opportunity to express your thoughts and opinions on these projects.

The Fair Park Senior Center is at 1433 Livingston Rd., across from the Fairgrounds. It is open to seniors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with some evening classes. Check out the website to learn more at http://www.fairparkseniorcenter.org or call 484-7416.
