127 Seniors plan for annual picnic

CROSSVILLE — On May 17, the members of the 127 South Senior Center had an enjoyable time socializing and playing bingo, dominos and billiards. Numbers were called by John Bohrman, with the prizes furnished by Dr. M. Stewart Galloway, M.D.

Emil Neitzke opened the general meeting at 10:40 a.m., with Joy Moyer giving the prayer and Kenneth Fenton leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

Neitzke reported on the 2013 trips. The June trip to the UK is sold out. The July 9 day trip to Sunshine Hollow Day Lily Farm has a few seats available, and money is due June 1. The Aug. 13 day trip is sold out.The September 22-28 trip to Mackinac Island has seats available, and the money is due June 1. The October trip is sold out. The Nov. 26 trip to the Cumberland County Playhouse with dinner at Gondola restaurant has some seats available. The December trip to see the Rockettes is also sold out. If interested in any of the above trips, contact Jan at 788-3667.

Jan reported that the annual picnic will be at Obed River Park July 19, with bingo at 9:30 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m. There will be special bingo prizes. Sign up and pay $5 to Sallye Sykes, who is handling the picnic.

Nancy Fincher, sunshine lady, reported all the members who are sick and asked for prayers for a speedy recovery for all of them. She asked them to forget about the military in their prayers.

Tom Fincher reported on the fundraiser that will be taking at the Palace Theatre June 8, at 6:30 p.m. There will be some famous performers on stage. Cost will be $10.

Emil reminded members to bring their items for the corridor sale and to keep buying the Kroger coupons. Emil also requested to submit articles or memories of the members who have gone to their heavenly home in 2012 to Leonard Hollender or Sandy Devine for the memorial services May 24.

The entertainment was provided by Southern Pride (the Isham family), with Richard Reed, members gave them a standing ovation.

After the dinner prayer, they enjoyed a delicious sweet and sour meatballs with side dishes and desserts furnished by the members.
