Playhouse actors deliver stunning performance

CROSSVILLE — On Feb. 14, the 127 Senior Center members gathered to socialize with coffee, goodies and chit chat. They played billiard, dominos and bingo, which was called by Helen Lord, and the gifts were provided by Bob Folger, State Farm Insurance.

Fred Zoeller, president, opened the general meeting, with Lou Bullard saying the opening prayer and Bill Bullard leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jan Neitzke gave her treasurer's report. Jan also had the information on the November and December day trips. On Nov. 5, the day trip to see Country Tonight Theater, a variety show (Christmas theme) in Pigeon Forge at 3 p.m. EST. It will include dinner at $65. The bus will leave at 10 a.m. Money is due Sept. 15. Also, on Dec. 13 to see Christmas in the Valley at Renfro Valley at 2 p.m. EST with dinner. Cost is $70. The seats are great — they are center stage ones. They will leave at 8 a.m. Money due is Nov. 1.

The July 9 Tennessee River Gorge Boat Ride is sold out, as well as the Sept. 20-28 trip to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. They are looking for a few more to go with them on the wonderful and beautiful Wisconsin trip, which will be June 8-14. The House on the Rock is a remarkable and outstanding house to see — it is definitely a one of a kind. Call Jan for more information at 788-3667.

Fred welcomed a new member, Louise Mullinex, and also a visitor, James Vegan. Fred passed out the call list to designated members and also the anniversary list to be updated by members.

Members were advised that game day will be Feb. 18. It will be $3 for lunch and to play games. So members, come and enjoy a day out. If you do not want lunch, just come to have fun.

Sunshine Lady Nancy Fincher is still not feeling good, and her cheerful greetings and smile are truly missed. All members wish her well and hope to see her back real soon. Also, Charles Ferguson is still recuperating. Keep them in the prayers and do not forget the brave military.

The members were delighted that three wonderful performers from the Cumberland County Playhouse, namely music director Ron Murphy, Jason Ross and Michael Ruff, who are terrific actors. They gave previews from the wonderful plays coming up this year. They even sang some of the great songs from Grease, Gypsy, Dixie Swim Club and The Foreigner. The members thanked them for bringing attention to the wonderful Playhouse events.

After the dinner prayer, a delicious sweet and sour pork was prepared by Denise Acquista and her helpers, Marietta and Velma, plus many others with side dishes and desserts furnished by the members. Have a wonderful and blessed week.
