Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The Neighbors and Newcomers Luncheon on Jan. 23 will feature the talents of Cumberland County Playhouse entertainers. The luncheon will be at the Art Circle Library, 154 East First St., Crossville. The doors will open at 11 a.m., and the program will conclude around 1 p.m. The cost per lady is $13, all inclusive, and reservations are needed by Saturday, Jan. 18. Call Robbi at 456-2790 or email robc92139@aol.com.

The menu will feature Chicken on the Square, a vegetable medley, rolls, tea and water HSA and is being catered by Forte's Restaurant. They are taking pre-orders for the delicious cream puffs, which are $2.50 each. Please indicate how many you would like when calling in your reservation. Remember, they are by pre-order only.

The January project is Paper Products: toweling, toilet paper, Kleenex, feminine products and infant and adult diapers, etc.

They want to thank their generous sponsors for the lovely gifts they donated for the December luncheon. They were the Cumberland County Playhouse, The Hair Connection, Heartland Florist, The Screen Door, Villa Pizza, Mayberry's, Nailtique, Genesis Italian Grille, 5th Street Market Café, Kirk Automotive, Forte's, Angel's Treats and Eats, Curtain Call and Captain D's.

Shirley Butka wants to remind all area ladies that there won't be any trips during January or February because of how unpredictable the weather can be around here during these two months. However, be watching the paper for information in February regarding the March trip.

At the Dec. 5 Leaders Meeting, it was reported that Neighbors and Newcomers gave out 60 turkeys to needy area families. Thank you, Walmart, for the generous discount on the turkeys. The members also collected $1,041, which was used to provide gifts and food for qualified families.

A new project being considered is to help purchase helmet liners for military men and women serving overseas. Other current projects are collecting canceled postage stamps which help purchase school supplies for the South American Charities., Box-Top coupons for school supplies, used cell phones for recycling for service men and women and hygiene items for motels. Talk to Shirley Butka after the luncheon for more details.

They hope to see you at the next luncheon and remember to invite any ladies you know of who are new to the area, and check with all neighbor ladies, too, because, some are just waiting for you to invite them to come and be recognized as their guests.
