On June 28, members gathered together at the 127 South Senior Center to socialize with coffee, goodies and chit chat. They played billiards, dominos and bingo, with Arlene Simmons calling the numbers. The bingo prizes were furnished by Dr. M. Stewart Galloway, ophthalmologist. Home Health Care came and took complimentary blood pressure readings for the seniors.
The general meeting was opened by the president, Emil Neitzke, at 10:35 a.m., with Bob Jones giving the opening prayer and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Members were advised that there will be no get-together Friday, July 5.
Again, please remember to not use glass covers for hot dishes brought in to the kitchen; only aluminum foil as a cover. This is in compliance with the health department.
Marietta Dion and Sallye Sykes are still collecting $5 per person for the annual picnic, which will be held at Obed Park on July 19.
Everyone who is going on the day trip to the Hollow Day Lily Farm on July 9 are requested to be at the center at 7:45 a.m., with the bus leaving at 8:15 a.m.
The corridor sale is coming shortly. Lucy Elmore and Annie Lewis passed their volunteer lists so members could sign up to help with the sale.
Sunshine Lady Nancy Fincher gave her report on all the sick members, which she keeps in touch with weekly, requesting that everyone keep them in their prayers as well as the military personnel.
The entertainment was provided by the talented Tony Zarola, who sang and played guitar. After the table blessing, all enjoyed a delicious chicken and dumpling meal prepared by Anna Cox and her kitchen help, with salads and desserts furnished by the members.
