Looking for a family friendly activity this summer that the whole family will enjoy? Check out the third annual Cumberland County Gun and Knife Show at the Cumberland County Community Complex Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4. Local businesses, national sponsors and law enforcement and fire prevention agencies will be on hand to entertain and educate kids of all ages.
Activities will include shooting simulators sponsored by the Tennessee National Guard and other hands-on skills opportunities like archery with the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. Come learn about turkey hunting with local experts. The Cumberland Mountain State Park will have an exhibition of "Birds of Prey" on Saturday afternoon.
Daisy BB, a returning sponsor, has provided shooting galleries for kids of all ages to show off their shooting skills. Custom made Daisy BB guns will be available by age group to the winning shooters. Paintball shooting will be available through John Deere.
Children of all ages can participate in the CASE Knives "Build a Wooden Knife" class in the Country Store. It will be taught at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration is recommended as space is limited.
Interested in carving? Cumberland County Wood Turners will be present to demonstrate wood turning skills and activities. Smoky Mountain Knife Works and CASE Knives will have vendor displays and vendor representatives to demonstrate and exhibit knives and cutlery.
Younger children can enjoy the Tennessee National Guard climbing wall. City and county fire trucks and firefighters will be on hand for kids to enjoy.
Cumberland County will be hosting the third annual Gun and Knife Show at the Cumberland County Complex, 1398 Livingston Rd. The event is being held to raise funds to promote programs for local kids and to show off the Complex to residents and visitors. Admission for adults is $5, and $1 for children under 13 years old. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and kids wearing school sanctioned uniforms will be allowed in free.
