Tommy Jay Fincher is an author, songwriter, singer, actor, standup comic, guitarist and trumpeter. He has performed with many top stars, groups and solo in Nashville, San Diego, Las Vegas, Branson, Portland, Honolulu, Pearl City, as well as "Cross Vegas" (Crossville).
Fincher was in the recent Playhouse production of Les Miserables. He also recently did a benefit with Tommy Dee and Grand Ole Opry’s Buddy Spicher.
People who like humor, mystery and action adventures love his books. Profits from his CDs and books are given to help children own a musical instrument who cannot afford one. Fincher also teaches guitar lessons at the library.

If you are on a first name basis with Arthur, (better known as arthritis), then you know what a pain it can be to live with the disease that affects so many people, not just seniors. Arthritis means the inflammation of joints, usually making the joint red, swollen, warm and painful. There are more than 120 different types of arthritis, which may affect one or more joints in the body, and it can affect anyone of any age. If not treated early, may face serious forms of disabilities that will reduce their quality of life. Some forms of arthritis are life threatening and some types of arthritis can be prevented. Effective treatment is available for most, if not all, forms of this disease, and taking pain pills several times a day is not a good way to live.
The National Arthritis Foundation has designed an exercise program that that has been proven to help. It is a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness. The exercise program will help you keep joints flexible and muscles strong, sleep better, increase energy and improve your overall outlook. The routine includes gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level, which you can also continue to do at home.
Cumberland County UT Extension Agent Kelli Bottoms is a certified instructor for these exercise classes and will be holding six sessions within the next few months. It will be available from 9 to 10 a.m. on July 9 and 23, Aug. 6, 13 and 20 and Sept. 3. The cost is free. Just sign up at the center and show up.
