CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County Imagination Library board held its annual meeting Monday, Jan. 21, and installed 2013 officers and board members as well as appointing advisory members.

Vice President Howard Hickerson served as the interim president following the unexpected death of Joyce Ferry in mid October 2012. He expressed how greatly Ferry will be missed by Imagination Library board members, advisory committee members, and all who had the pleasure of working with her.

The slate of officers and board members for 2013 are:

President Jim Oswald, Vice President Howard Hickerson, Secretary Teva Rainey, Treasurer James Houston; additional board members are Jackie Hall, Judy Hickerson, Deanna Magdich, Len Stark, and B.J. Straub. There are three vacancies on the board.

Advisory members are appointed/reappointed annually by the board of directors at its annual meeting each January.

Appointed Advisory members for 2013 are:

Sherrie Cox, Lachricia Hunt, Ron Likens, Jeani Miller, Susie Randelman, Clayta Richards, Julie Shanks, Cathy Simpson, Penny Symington, Kristen Tabor, and Jim Thompson.

With a purpose of improving literacy and looking forward for 2013, the board hopes to improve on the number of Cumberland County pre-schoolers enrolled in the program. Currently, 38 percent of the county's children are not enrolled. How to reach the parents and caretakers of those children continues to be a challenge. If you would like to enroll your child, age birth to 5 years, in the program, obtain a registration form at the front desk of the Art Circle Library, 3 East St., Crossville.

The group endeavors to reach more agencies, offices, and businesses that will assist in enrollment. Forms for enrollment and other helpful information can be delivered to any of group willing to participate.

An acknowledgement of appreciation was announced to VEC for a grant of $2,500 received on Jan. 14.

Thanks were expressed to Cathy Simpson for the donation of a trifold poster board, which the group has found to be very useful.

Lachricia Hunt stated the Imagination Library will be one of the benefactors of the 2013 Fairfield Glade Ladies Invitational, which plays July 13-14. Anyone interested can sponsor a hole for $100, and their committee is hoping to collect additional big-ticket items to offer in their silent auction. The Imagination Library will host an information table at the reception for the golfers on July 12 at the Community and Conference Center in Fairfield Glade.

The Imagination Library board's next meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Feb. 11 at the Art Circle Library. Check at the front desk for the meeting room.
