Simms work on display at ACPL

CROSSVILLE — Did you know that the Art Circle Public Library has three art galleries? The answer given by nearly 75 persons who attended a reception for John Simms on November 1 was “No.” Since then the staff has learned that most visitors to the library are missing out on an awesome experience.

Whether you are in the library for academic, business or leisure purposes, be sure to ask a friendly staff person to show you the location of the meeting room, vestibule and café galleries.

Until Dec. 26, the galleries will display the fine art creations of John Simms. His exhibit includes still life paintings and heirloom quality portraits of adults and children: academic, artistic, business, civic, clergy, legal and medical professionals as well as military veterans. Simms most recently completed oil portraits of Mayor J.H. Graham III and Dr. Joanna Cher Gibbs, MD. More of his creations can be viewed on his website at

Simms is a graduate of the College of Creative Studies and an award-winning artist who paints from his dream come true studio in Fairfield Glade. Throughout his career, Simms has completed portraits of collegiate, corporate and government officials as well as commissioned paintings of loved ones. He enjoys teaching adults and being a mentor for youth who have an interest in art.

The Art Circle Library houses an extensive collection of audio, video and reading materials as well as a free Wi-Fi and computer usage. Educational and entertainment activities for adults and children are frequently offered. The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 484-6790.
