Give the gift of art this season

The Art Guild at Fairfield Glade invites you to consider the gift of art for your friends and loved ones this season. A gift of art can take many forms and cost as much or as little as your budget will accommodate.

For example, you might want to spend some time in the galleries at the PCAC to select fine art work in mediums as varied as ethereal watercolor painting, glossy dramatic photography, rock-solid ceramic sculptures, or exquisite hand made jewelry, all created by artists who reside in Cumberland County.

Fibre Arts take center stage in the studio area in a special show and sale running from Sunday, Nov. 22, through Tuesday, Nov. 24. As above, all work is for sale and fashioned by residents of Cumberland County using fibers as the medium. The fibers used might be yarns, wool or cotton roving, whole or quilted fabrics, and even long pine needles. These local artisans use the materials for wearables and home décor products as well as art pieces to be enjoyed simply for their beauty.

Perhaps you suspect the person you intend to “gift” would like to experiment with producing art in one medium or another, or has already taken some classes and would like to extend and refine their capability. Consider a gift certificate to be used for one or more of the many art classes planned for 2010 at the PCAC. You may specify the amount of the certificate which can then be applied to any class offering during the coming year.

Many of us have friends and family who “have everything” or are “trying to down-size” or “de-clutter.” What to give? Rather than something edible or otherwise transient, why not consider a gift in their name, one which will have permanent impact? A direct contribution to the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade for the promotion of fine arts in Cumberland County might be much appreciated by a lover of the arts who has collected about all the art pieces a smaller home can accommodate.
