The Avenue of Flags expands in honor of fallen, wounded veterans

“Welcome Home” founder Ron Dyer and organizer Dann Dunham have chosen a special way to remember their fallen or wounded brothers-in-arms.

The Avenue of Flags, which was created last year to welcome home all the Vietnam veterans, has now expanded to include Hwy. 127 from I-40 to Lantana Road, and will now include the red and black MIA/POW flag. The significance of the colors represents the blood that was shed by the red and the black to remember those that gave their lives in the name of freedom.

These flags can now be sponsored on a permanent basis by contacting Dann Dunham at 788-2919.

Once again, the money raised will go to put on “Welcome Home Reunion 2009." Cumberland County Vietnam Veterans is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. The money raised from “Welcome Home” will go to help veterans.
