After the meeting year ends in May for the Neighbors & Newcomers Club of Cumberland County, donations are made to various charities in the county. Among them are the Bread of Life, CCHS Advanced Choir, St. Alphonsus Community Services (SACS), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Cumberland Plateau, House of Hope, Kids on the Rise, Good Samaritans, Avalon Center, Brown Elementary School, Imagination Library Project, Plateau Pregnancy Services, Cumberland County Playhouse, Helping Hands Ministry, Cumberland Reading Council, Space Club, Neighbors Together, Wags & Whiskers, and Cumberland County School Supply Depot.
The purpose of the Neighbors & Newcomers organization, as defined in article II of their constitution, states, “The club is organized exclusively for the fellowship of its members and to promote charitable and educational causes in the community including contributions to charitable organizations and/or community, civic, and service projects.”
