Emerson is Palace artist of the month

June 29, 2009 06:08 pm

Multi-media artist Camilla Staton Emerson has chosen 25 pieces of her artwork for her one woman show at the Palace Theatre for the month of July 2009. Her choices include some of her most recent and largest works, many of which have not previously been displayed in the Cumberland County area. This show is free to the public and accessible at all times. The Palace Theatre is open including during evening performances. The public is invited to a special reception, hosted by the artist July 10 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Emerson’s work combines many media, from acrylic on canvas to painting on silk, handmade paper, stained glass water media, to collage. Although complex in execution, her art remains accessible to her audiences, featuring vivid color, dramatic forms and recognizable images. Several of her current works are reminiscent of Emerson’s ancestral home in Northern France.
Emerson and her husband moved to Cumberland County from Southwest Florida, partly because they found the Plateau area reminded them of the terrain and landscape of Camilla’s French roots. An accomplished artist, Emerson has been teaching for 25 years in Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Cumberland County. She has also worked as an architectural and interior design consultant, faux painter, custom picture framer and demonstrator of the fine arts. Her artwork is featured in galleries, businesses and homes throughout the U.S. and abroad. She has had one woman shows in Florida and Ohio, been featured in art publications, and has won many awards including several at local shows.
Emerson is a member of the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade and CACE and, in addition to her Palace Theatre show, is represented by galleries in Florida and at the Plateau Creative Arts Center. Her selected works, many of which are for sale, may be seen at the Palace Theatre in downtown Crossville throughout the month of July.
