Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is celebrating its third year in Cumberland County and a birthday bash is planned on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Art Circle Public Library annex.
The library will provide craft activities, face painting, and a giant inflatable pirate ship is being supplied by RSVP Party Rentals. The Crossville Police Department will be on site with the Ident-A-Kid program and the Cumberland County Fire Department will have a fire truck on display. In addition, the Crossville Model Railroad Club will host an exhibit. CCHS and SMHS Drama Clubs will be reading children’s books throughout the event. Children of all ages are invited to come dressed as their favorite storybook character. Mayfield ice cream will be available while supplies last.
More than 1,450 Cumberland County children are enrolled in the Imagination Library which provides free age-appropriate books each month to children under the age of 5. Educators generally agree that a child’s capacity to learn is the greatest from age 0 to 5. Parents or guardians can register their children online at www.ImaginationLibrary.com or pick up a registration form at the Art Circle Library.
