Mayland Senior Center news

By Charlotte Mullikin / Chronicle contributor

The last meeting of the Mayland Senior Center was April 25 at 4 p.m. Woodmen of the World field representative Tony Snider was in charge of bingo and furnished all the wonderful gifts. Thank you, Tony, for coming to Mayland.

Special guest Brian Steel presented a diabetes awareness presentation. He is from Express Footwear and explained how to take care of your feet. Everyone enjoyed the information that he spoke about. He showed pictures of new shoes that were available.

It was announced that the next meeting, May 9, will be the election of officers. It is scheduled for 4 p.m.

There will be no bingo due to the election and installation of officers. They will be closing out the old year and opening up a new one.

Just remember, the slate of officers for the coming year will be as follows:

•President — Patty Qualls

•Vice President — James Forsythe

•Treasurer — Charlotte Mullikin

•Directors at large (vote for three): Roy Welch, James Qualls, Luther Smith, Helen Gore, Robert Martin, Ronald Fistler, and Betty Forsythe.

It is very important that all members attend this meeting so you can vote.

There was a spaghetti supper May 2. The crowd was great and the spaghetti was delicious. Jessie James and the Outlaws outdid themselves with their music, as usual. Members thank everyone that worked to make this dinner a big success for the building fund.

Remember the buffet and make your dish large enough so everyone will be fed and not go home hungry. Remember those wonderful homemade desserts. Ladies, you always do a great job.

There will be a pancake breakfast May 17 from 8-11 a.m. The price is $3. Pop's Pancakes will be there, along with his new pancake machine. There will also be sausage, bacon and coffee. You don't want to miss this breakfast.

For more information about the meeting and the announcements, call 277-3200 or 277-3181.
