May is Older Americans Month, a great time to bring attention to the issues that affect older adults. In that spirit, Fair Park will be offering “sampler” classes sure to appeal to those interest in health, physical fitness, and personal development.
“Painting with the Masters” is designed to help beginners learn to paint and explore their creative talents. This class will be held the first three Mondays in May starting at 1 p.m.
Each Tuesday in May, two classes designed to improve fitness and flexibility will be offered. The first, “Gentle Chair Stretches, Breathing and Relaxation,” concentrates on safe and effective movements for body on mind, focusing on improving breathing capacity and flexibility. This class will be held at 1 p.m. The second class, “Beginning Yoga,” teaches gentle stretching, yoga postures and relaxation techniques, and will be at 2 p.m. All seniors are encouraged to attend both classes, and sign-up sheets are available at the front desk.
Throughout May, Fair Park will continue to offer new activities and events, so be sure to visit the center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for more details. You can also visit the center’s Web site at http://www.fairparkseniorcenter.org to keep
