Pleasant Hill Ramblings

The staff of the Rural Health Clinic of the Cumberlands gives a public "thank you" to bill Sanders, owner of Lefty's Barbecue on Peavine Rd., for his graciousness and generosity the evening of the appreciation dinner.

As everyone knows, those who were present thanked the clinic staff for sponsoring the public "thank you" dinner for the many who continue to give time and energy to keep this important work in the area operating.

The Rural Clinic of the Cumberland has been in operation less than a year. But, in these months, the clinic has been able to serve more than 700 residents. The volunteers who work faithfully have made — and continue to make — this possible.

For this reason, a dinner was planned at Linary Church to say thank you and to show that your faithfulness and work is appreciated.

We all know what a dinner is. Food, right? Someone must buy, prepare and serve that food. Oh yes, there was food, lots of it. So, where did it come from? Lefty's Barbecue! In addition to barbecue, there were green beans, baked beans, salad, iced tea, and three kinds of pie. Oh, that pecan pie.

Bill Sanders, his wife, Terry, and their crew prepared the food at the home front on Peavine Road. Then they transported it to the church. Of course, all those present saw to it that there was little left but the fragrance. I guess that's a good testimonial to the quality of what Bill and Terry provides.

All who helped eat what was prepared can say "Thanks Bill and Terry! Good job! We appreciate all you did."

Marilyn Hall resigns post on clinic staff

If you've been reading about the Rural Health Clinic of the Cumberlands on Hwy. 70W going toward Sparta in Pleasant Hill, you will be familiar with the name of Marilyn Hall. She is the sister of Dr. Harold Lowe. He and his wife, Diane, and Marilyn got the clinic going.

Marilyn has been very active in the clinic. But now, she finds she must resign her staff responsibilities as of April 28.

Marilyn is no longer able to do what she has been doing. She felt she wanted to explain this way why she will not be around as before.

As much as possible, she will continue to be a volunteer at the clinic. She has been very active in this work, and that already means a lot to those who need affordable health care. It also is dear to Marilyn's heart.

You will see Marilyn now and then, since she will continue to volunteer when able. She has been very active.

Thanks, Marilyn for all you've done. It's meant so much to so many. I hope you will be better soon.
