Lake Tansi Community Association update

By Ginny Krueger / Chronicle contributor

The Lake Tansi Community Association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at 6 p.m. at the Thunderbird Recreation Center. Celia Hellem gave the invocation. Following the invocation, Ray Carpenter led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Community Association members with birthdays and/or anniversaries in April were recognized and also first time members and visitors were welcomed. Table numbers were then called and everyone shared in the bountiful and delicious food provided by members.

“T” Shurmer of Family Ties Restaurant provided the entertainment for the evening. She has been singing since 1990 and does mostly gospel along with oldies from the '40s through the '70s. “T” has a beautiful voice and performed several songs for everyone. She started out with a favorite oldie, “Red Sails in the Sunset.” Some of the other hits she sang were “The First Time Ever I Saw You,” “Stand by Your Man” and a Patsy Cline hit, “Crazy.”

Some of the guests took advantage of the music and enjoyed dancing and singing along. All in all, a good time was had by all.

The Cumberland County Community Chorus will hold their spring concert on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Crossville. There will be another concert at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church on Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m. There is no charge for either of these concerts.

Next month’s meeting will be on May 20 at 6 p.m. at the Thunderbird. The entertainment for the evening will be presented by the “Pint Size Pickers” from Brown Elementary School. Please plan on attending.

If you have friends or you know of people who are new to Lake Tansi, or long-timers for that matter, don’t forget to invite them to participate in the Community Association. They meet on the third Tuesday of each month. To join this wonderful Lake Tansi organization, just contact Gary Rabuck at 788-1748 after 6 p.m. Membership dues are $6 per person or $12 per couple per year.
