Homestead has been awarded national certification recognition for outstanding performance in education.
Homestead was awarded Math Model School Certification by Renaissance Learning, a Wisconsin Rapids, WI, based company. Math Model School certification indicates that HES's efforts to implement the company's Accelerated Math Best Practices to a high degree have resulted in measurable improvements in school-wide math performance.
To receive Math Model School certification, a school's leadership must demonstrate that their students are maintaining high-quality math practice for a minimum of 12 weeks. In addition, educators must be actively working with individual students to meet goals and be helping each student work at the level that promotes the most growth.
Principal Robin Perry is very proud of the teachers' dedication and students' achievement, stating, "This accomplishment requires a joint effort among students, teachers, and parents and is something everyone in the community can be proud of."
This is the school's first year reaching Math Model School certification.
Renaissance Learning developed the Accelerated Math software to help teachers efficiently differentiate math instruction, addressing each student's needs through individualized practice. The software creates and automatically scores math assignments tailored to each student's current level, and provides teachers with ongoing feedback about their students' daily math practice.
