The "Welcome to Crossville" sign at the airport has a new look, thanks to Cumberland County Master Gardeners. This is a project of Downtown Crossville, Inc. New plantings are now installed in the surrounding garden and a new border of rock pavers give the area just the right finished look. Come spring travelers will be welcomed by creeping phlox and red roses against a carpet of needled evergreens. Welcoming signs at all four main entrances to the city are in the works. Of course it's a hard time to be planting new gardens while watering restrictions are in place, but a nearby ditch provided rainwater to help start these plantings on their way. Pictured are Master Gardeners Carol Burdett, Elaine St. Pierre, Frank Pittman, Jim Podsiadlo, Millie Moore and Bob Giebitz in the process of renovating the garden.
