Hwy. 68 crash3.jpg

No information was available at press time concerning this near-headon crash on Hwy. 68 within sight of the Rhea County line Tuesday morning. The wreck was reported to local authorities shortly after 7 a.m. and involved a pickup truck and passenger car. One person died in the crash and a second driver was taken by ambulance to Cumberland Medical Center, the extent of their injuries not known. The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash with Troopers Michael Morgan (above) and Jeremy Newcombe responding. Deputy Tom Howard also was on the scene assisting with traffic control. The state highway was closed for about an hour as emergency crews worked at the scene. When additional information is available, it will be published on the Chronicle´┐Żs web site.
