Cumberland County Fire Department responded to this house fire on Lawton Brown Rd. in Crab Orchard Wednesday afternoon. The resident, Bill Eddington, was able to get out of the burning structure safely, but the residence suffered major damage, resulting in Eddington having to seek shelter elsewhere. At press time, a fire report was not finished, but Eddington told Sheriff's Lt. Scott Iles the fire started in a rear bedroom and flames were already coming through the roof when first firefighters arrived on the scene.
