The Crossville City Council, after 10 years of discussion and planning, has voted to move forward with the downtown improvement project. In addition to replacing decades old water lines and improving stormwater systems, the project will remove overhead lines, replace streetlights and traffic signals. The $10 million project is designed to encourage economic improvements and additional businesses downtown but a tax increase is expected to be necessary to pay for the project.
