Veterans Day events were capped Monday with a special recognition event and meal for veterans and their families. The event was sponsored by the Cumberland County Veterans Council, which includes American Legion Post 163 and Post 238; V.F.W. Post 5025 and Post 9689; Disabled American Veterans; Fleet Reserve Association; Korean War Veterans Association; Military Officers Association of America; and Vietnam Veterans Association Post 1015; as well as Veterans Service Officer Bill Ward. Many organizations volunteered to help serve the barbecue dinner while an estimated 500 guests enjoyed musical entertainment during the afternoon event.
